The Muriqui
The gender Brachyteles Spix, 1823 understand two species, Southern Muriqui (B. arachnoides) E. Geoffroy, 1806 and Northern Muriqui (B. hypoxanthus) Kuhl, 1820 classified as in danger and critically in extinction danger, respectively. They are considered the largest neotropical monkeyshey can be found of the south of Bahia to the north of Paraná (1, 3, 9).
